The Swan River flows 95 miles from Gray Wolf Lake in the Mission Mountains Wilderness Area through some of the most lush, scenic and secluded countryside remaining in northwestern Montana. This beautiful pristine river flows north through the Swan Valley between the Mission Mountains and the Swan Mountain Range (which includes the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex ), past the Swan River National Wildlife Refuge, and through Swan Lake itself (a 10 mile long boater's scenic paradise). It then meanders on through a mix of forests, fields and farmland to Bigfork dam. Below the dam the Swan River becomes the boiling Wild Mile, the renowned whitewater kayak course. After flowing through the artist's village of Bigfork it ends its journey as it heads out of Bigfork Bay into Flathead Lake, the largest freshwater lake in the western US.

This same Swan River runs right through this 150 acre homesteaded property, with a full 1,100 feet of
frontage on each side of the river allowing fishing, rafting or canoing 5 miles downstream to Swan
Lake. Also flowing year-round through this property is Cilly Creek, which originates in the Swan Mountain Range and terminates where it enters the Swan River on the west side of the property.

This homesteaded property, originally approved in 1920 was bought from the homesteader in 1929 by the Blair family, who have maintained ownership to the present. The property is located in Lake County, Montana, between mile markers 66 and 67 on Montana Highway 83. (It includes 1/2 mile of highway 83 frontage.) It is about 4 miles south of the village of Swan Lake with an upscale restaurant, a cafe/bar and a country store. Glacier Park International Airport is just an hour away and smaller airstrips are even closer.

As you turn off Highway 83 onto the 900' private drive, you will wind your way past 2 pole barns on the right, before you view the house and the Mission mountains behind it at the bottom of the drive. Looking to the left about 150 feet away is a 2 car log garage and about 50 feet to its side is a very large 3 stall metal barn with a huge 14' tall center door perfect for storing a large boat or RV. The home itself is a spacious custom Montana-style log home of around 4,430 sq.ft. with quality-sized, hand selected logs with cedar siding accents.

One of the most impressive features of this sought-after property is that it is completely surrounded by the Flathead National Forest. This contiguous forest service land extends on to the north to Glacier National Park. The property itself is timbered with a mix of mainly spruce, Douglas fir, larch and birch trees. A 10 acre meadow draws an abundance of wildlife, including elk, moose, bear, deer, coyotes, and geese. This opportunity for wildlife viewing right on the property is spectacular!

Winter brings cross-country skiing and snowmobiling on the property and into the adjoining national forest lands. Down-hill and more cross-country skiing are available at Blacktail Mountain and Big Mountain ski areas.

Summer is time for fishing on Cilly Creek and the Swan River on the property, or head to Swan Lake and Flathead lake for both fishing and an assortment of boating activities.

Life is good where the Swan River runs through it!
